London March 18, 2006-- LOOK AT THE FACES IN THE FRONT ROW great picture

Sorry for the link to this whackjobs site (he is suggesting that OBL would be against the war in Iraq) but look at the faces

(picture from worldwide anti-war protests, Feb. 15, 2003)

I believe that it was the February 15, 2003 protests worldwide that were the single largest public demonstration EVER

February 15, 2003 San Francisco

London the same day

5. Now THOSE are some protests! And not just those...
But let's take a moment to remember the protesters that actually took a risk in defying their government. The ones that actually had something to fear because, gasp, these protests were actually challenging the powerful elite and not being sponsored by them.

SAN FRANCISCO 2003

2200 people arrested right before and after the war broke out. Protesters shut down the financial district. I was one of the ones arrested, and am actually on the second video here. Wasn't arrested though. That came later.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkCgamw46AU&feature=related

OAKLAND 2003

Police open fire on peaceful protesters and Longshoreman dock workers with wooden bullets. A public outcry ensues, and after 3 years, the Oakland PD pays out 2.1 million in damages to protesters they injured. They also promised they amended their use of force guidelines. I was all set to go to this protest. I lived 5 hours north in Arcata at the time. The reason I didn't? Car trouble. That's a true story. Although part of me regrets not being there, I can't help but think maybe something was looking out for me.

Here's what the cop's handiwork looked like.

THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION IN NEW YORK CITY, 2004

1800 people arrested, a record for any political convention in the United States. It was later revealed that the police were lying about the circumstances of many of the arrests. Some even got up on stand and committed perjury in order to convict activists, but video exonerated them. No police officer was ever charged with anything. Most of the charges against those arrested were dropped, and of all the cases that went to trial, more than 91% of them resulted in acquittal. To date, the New York City Police Department has paid out $8.1 million in damages to protesters they wrongfully arrested, and they still have more than 500 lawsuits to go through.

THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION IN ST. PAUL, 2008

Now, who could forget this? Overwhelming police brutality and excessive force. Genuine police state tactics at work including preemptive raids on independent media, liberal use of tear gas, rubber bullets, flash bang grenades, tasers, and pepper spray. More than 800 arrests, 130 of them on felony charges. Eight activists arrested prior to the convention were initially charged with terrorism offenses, but recently those were dropped. To date, more than 85% of all criminal cases against protesters have been dropped, and most of the ones that have gone to trial have been acquitted.

Now listen up, all you lurking teabaggers. THAT'S A FUCKING PROTEST MOVEMENT! That's what's called standing up to oppressive government and facing real consequences in doing so. Not this wannabe, pansy-assed phony my taxes are too high let's get Faux news to give me excessive air time bullshit that you all are doing. You all are nothing but posers. Always have been and always will be.

Add your own videos if you got 'em kids.

11. the teabaggers would run home to mommy with their tail between their legs
after pissing themselves in fear at the idea of actually facing arrest for their belief in the rightness and moral obligation of their protest and witness.
How convenient that their "protest" (which is actually of bush tax policies, since Obama is lowering their taxes) is officially sponsored by the establishment! That makes it all so risk free -- except for that damn ACORN, of course, that militant, unpredictable, violent bunch of agitators who want to stifle their right to make complete asses of themselves. poor widdle wannabe martyrs who can't seem to get persecuted and martryed.

24. Yep. And if they ever got gassed or hit with a rubber bullet
Well, let's just say that they'd probably never leave the house again. They'd sit in front of the door with their assault rifles and all that ammo they've been stocking up on lately and wait for the jack booted thugs to come. Probably accidentally shoot the mailman instead though.

7. Does anyone have the photo of the Freek Republic "counter-demonstration" in DC that day?
FOUR Porta-Potties (I believe) to handle the expected crowd. That "crowd" turned out to be about a dozen, listlessly sitting on folding chairs! LOL LOL LOL!

I'm still looking for that photo! I had made a successful appeal for it a while back on DU, but had mislaid it (Rats!)

14. Yeah, the media is going to devote some significant air time to these "protests"
And will go to lots of trouble to make them seem like big deals. Lots of close in shots, but no far shots showing how small the protests really are. Estimates of crowd size will be in the "thousands" while virtually anything that we put out there is estimated in the "hundreds", despite actually being in the thousands and tens of thousands. Lots of coverage and face time for the protesters, while back under Bush, you regularly had protests across the country that brought out hundreds of thousands of people, and not one single peep about them in the MSM.

Same shit, different day.

15. just the sheep doing what Fox Noise is telling them to do.
the whole thing is being motivated by Ken Delay, Vitter, Dick Armey and Newt, trying to use Americans again for their purposes. The whole tax thing is for the richest Americans to pay higher tax rates again. The whole thing is stupid.

16. I'm sure glad you posted these photos because I've been thinking about those protests
In the San Francisco photo I'm somewhere in that shot. Funny how the media just ignored all of it. And Bush just said it was a focus group and dismissed it all by saying he didn't make decisions based on focus groups.

17. I was in that San Franmcisco march in 2003
That street looked like that for at least four hours. The MSM reported that "several thousand" marched. I estimated close to 750,000.

21. The teabaggers can use their Obama tax cuts to travel to their Tea Party!
Unless someone earning over $250K per year attends one of these silly things (unlikely; a person doesn't achieve that kind of income by being an idiot), every single tax protester there will already be receiving their tax cut from Obama in the form of reduced withholding! How stupid can people possibly get??
