Bush attacks Pelosi's planned Syria trip while gop Reps are there NOW
.....Not only are the administration’s attacks on Pelosi hypocritical, but the timing suggests they are a partisan hit. ThinkProgress has learned that a delegation of Republicans is currently in Syria. (This has not been previously reported by the press.) Why did the White House wait until Pelosi’s imminent visit to raise this issue publicly, and not make mention of the Republicans already there?

Here’s what the White House isn’t talking about:

Republican Reps. Aderholt and Wolf are currently visiting Syria. According to a congressional official on Rep. Robert Aderholt’s (R-AL) staff, Aderholt and Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) are currently visiting Israel and Syria......

3. I'm SURE Shrub is scared to death that Pelosi might get some kind of agreement

the hypocrisy is endless

the idea that a senior member of the government should not even talk to them because "the decider" should call all the shots, whereas if we want to bring about "regime change" in some country we cozy up to the opposition, arm them, support their revolution - or conduct it on their behalf -

I hope Pelosi gets an offer comparable to the overture Iran made a couple of years ago. This time, Condi would not be able to hide it away and reprimand those who receive it

She could report it privately, give them a time limit to respond, and then go public

5. McClatchy rpts on bush campaign to defy the ISG and destabalize Syria-
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has launched a campaign to isolate and embarrass Syrian President Bashar Assad, using parliamentary elections in late April as a lever, according to State Department officials and Syrian exiles.

The campaign, which some officials fear is aimed at destabilizing Syria, has been in the works for months.

It involves escalating attacks on Syria's human rights record, which is generally regarded as abysmal, as well as White House-approved support for Syrian bloggers and election monitors inside and outside the country to highlight the nation's lack of freedom, the officials and others said.....

"It's the new Cuba - no language is too tough," said one of the officials, who like others insisted on anonymity to discuss internal government planning.

What could the repubs be doing there, I wonder?

18. The idea that we're going to turn Syria into the new Cuba is so counterproductive
This is childish bullshit. You're not going to change Syria by hardening it against your ideas.

10. A lie of omission. One of the Bush-Cheney admin's favored tactics.

They are very skilled liars, you have to give them that. When it comes to playing word-games, they know all the tricks.

:puke:

They simply say the same things over and over and over ("talking points")until the gullible believe them to be true.

Too many sheep in the world.

Whenever ANYONE in this administration opens their mouth, my brain goes into bullshit mode.

16. Well, but you are one of the fortunate few, I'd say. Or relatively few, at least.

My mind was PERMANENTLY blown by the many sound-bites from soldiers on the ground in Iraq, saying they were there to avenge 9-11.

Whoa.
:wow:

If you go looking for audio clips of Bush-Cheney administration officials saying "Saddam did 9-11," it doesn't appear there are any. And yet by skillfully juxtaposing, intermingling, shifting and twisting the facts -- and, yes, doing it over and over again, as you rightly point out... Well, the result was a whole lotta people believing Saddam did 9-11.

One of the greatest feats of propaganda in history, sad to say. And they use the same kind of techniques every day of the week, even now. I wish EVERYONE shared your healthy skepticism! :hi:
