The President has left the door open for testimony... |

from those that took orders from higher-ups in the possible torture investigation. He hinted that a special counsel might be required but he would leave that to the Attorney-General. No way is this over. It is only just beginning.
Sometimes immunity from prosecution is needed in order to get to the whole truth. I think that is the bottom line of the President's reasoning. He is walking a very fine line of partisanship, which he cannot cross, otherwise no investigation will get off the ground. It is a complicated political matter, simply not one of justice.

2. Wants the commission or entity to be free from partisanship, acceptable and respected by all. |

When people think about criminality and injustice, we have so many economic issues that are life and death, not getting the same focus here or by the press. Media would have to discuss policy which is harder.
Obama was wonderfully thoughful and nuanced in how he addressed the concern and burden, really, of keeping us safe and addressing this issue.
Stories coming out about he's effected by the letters he receives, and how deliberative he was about the release of the memos, how weight the decision. We've needed those stories in counterpoint to his cool, and how he's captured by Wall Street. He need to be concerned about the financial engines of this country, however badly they've behaved.
I hope they video post that entire question.
