Another Dem declares he'll challenge Specter
@ 1:15 pm by Jeremy P. Jacobs

Pennsylvania state Rep. Bill Kortz, a Democrat, plans to challenge Republican Sen. Arlen Specter next year, the Daily News of McKeesport reports.

Kortz told the News on Monday that he is planning to file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

"I understand this is a monumental task and that I will be the underdog," he told the News. "However, I am entering this race for all the right reasons."

Kortz joins National Constitution Center CEO Joe Torsella on the Democratic side in the race. State Rep. Josh Shapiro is also reportedly considering the race and has met with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
