That was pretty fucking rude just now on MSNBC. |

Contessa Brewer and the other teleprompter reader on their "Green" segment were interviewing a lady selling new environmentally friendly light bulbs. The whole segment they made fun of how they looked, and how no one would buy them because of the cost ($120). They talked over the lady, dismissed her point that this is new technology, and ended the interview without saying "thank you". They simply quit talking to the woman and continued making fun of the bulbs while she was still on the line.
It was really rude.

When the price comes down I'll probably get one since they have one that's very close to the soft light of an incandescent bulb.
I read in bed every night and would use one in that lamp. I like the fact that they offer the 3 kinds of light qualities - bluish florescent, incandescent and one that's in between the two.
Hopefully, the price comes down soon like she said.

they ran a segment where they blamed people using credit cards to pay for groceries as being irresponsible and "not reading the fine print" when credit card co's jack up their interest rates. yea, blame people who have nowhere else to turn and are trying to feed their kids - while simultaneously defending corporations for gouging their customers.
they had no idea what they're talking about, it was embarrassing to watch.

said the proposed 'Bill of Rights' for credit card holders was ridiculous...the banks need to make money so they should charge higher interest rates.
To her credit, Contessa was the one who pointed out that many people are now using their cards to survive, to buy food for their families and other necessities and that increasing the rates or hiding it in fine print was unfair.
The other one was just concerned about the banks and cc companies making money, she couldn't care less how the rates hurt people.

from the school of Chris Matthews: invite a guest, ask a question, and don't bother to wait for a reply but use it as a starting point to air your own opinion, preferably while shouting.
Olbermann is the only one who actually let his guests talk, take as long as they want.

12. Problem is that you already know that Olbermann's guests are just going to echo what he said |
|
so it's not like you actually hear a different viewpoint.

Wait till the technology is a bit more ready for prime time prior to taking it there. That's the lesson she should learn. She set herself up big time there imho.

...unless the early adapters buy it at crazy prices.
My father bought a "Bowmar Brain" pocket calculator in like 1973. I think it cost $400. Just a few years later, more powerful calculators were being given away in cereal boxes.
The Macbook that I'm typing this on cost me half (in 2008 dollars) what my first Mac Plus cost me in 1988 dollars.
$120 light bulb? Not for me, thank you. But it will never be a $1.20 light bulb without the early adapters...
