People who believe in torture should be tortured. I know that |
|
2 wrongs don' make a right but it sure as hell would serve as a reality check.
Flame away.

5. I think I know whatcha mean -- It would be fitting for these pro-torture people |
|
to find out what it's like to experience the horror and terror that they so casually inflict upon others.

6. I admit that thought crossed my mind ... |
|
... but I'll settle for this. People who argue that being waterboarded is not torture, ought to be waterboarded.
Is that a reasonable compromise?

8. I'm not going to flame, but it's an ugly circle |

9-11 was horrible, and people are justifiably angered by it. Many (not all) Americans blame all Muslims of Middle Eastern origin for 9-11. So, we decide we want two outcomes:
a) mercilessly punish the bastards that did this b) ensure this never happens again
How do you prevent recurrence? Through intelligence, of course! But, alas, we don't have a lot of Middle Eastern Americans who can do the grunt work of credible field intellience, and we don't have a surplus of Arab speakers, and we don't have time -- because another attack could be planned any moment now. What to do? I know -- combine "A" and "B". We can punish mercilessly, while simultaneously developing credible intelligence.
"What about the innocent" says you? "What innnocent?" reply many Americans "they're Muslims and they're Arabs - to Hell with them."
Back to your point. Americans who support torture won't be tortured themselves, but they may very well be terrorized. We have now angered whole generations over there of people who will learn that dear old Dad died a slow, hard death at the hands of the CIA, or Army Intel, or Blackwater, or whatever. They will take that anger out on Americans and American interests in the years to come...and the cycle will renew :-(
