Queen Of Fools

BRITNEY Spears has topped this year's list of "Most Foolish Americans." In second place is Paris Hilton, followed by Michael Jackson, George W. Bush, O.J. Simpson, Dick Cheney and Mel Gibson, in the annual poll conducted by publicist Jeff Barge and the Opinion Research Group. Barge, who releases the list in honor of April Fool's Day, said of the pop tart's victory, "Going commando, mutilating your own head, bobbling your baby in public - they've all been done before by various contenders but never before in combination."

4. O.K., three's the charm. I fail to see why some choose to respond ill-digestedly.

1. Old time gossip columnists are more reliable than non-"reporters" like G.E. RUSSERT and Tweety.

2. While I would support Shrub & CHEENEE being co-#1s in perpetuity, they are here being associated in public perception with others of the currently most held-in-contempt figures. What's not to like about that? As for, "What do you expect from the NYP?" - well, clearly NOT that Shrub-CHEENEE would be so associated at all, so there you have it.

3. While this column (and Cindy ADAMS) skew wingnut whenever ANY skew is perceptible, this item is only reporting a poll by SOMEBODY ELSE. I really doubt that MURDOCH, who contributes financially to Senator CLINTON, sits down daily and dictates every word in every item in his wingnut rag. The NYP also hires friend-of-Bill (CLINTON), Liz SMITH. I frequent these gossipers from back when, when the three of them were featured on E! cable, and searched them out without knowing that their home base was MURDOCH's NYP. There are FREQUENT political tidbits from all over the spectrum in their columns.

4. Never fails. A hundred or so can View and not respond, but it's always the discouraging-worders who do.

5. A very large portion of this discussion board is dedicated to opposition research, or look-at-what-these-outrageous-wingnuts-are-saying-now. How about posting disapprovingly in ALL of those threads?

6. Prediction: Today, tomorrow, or the next, somebody else will post a thread on this poll and it will get HUNDREDS of positive responses.
