Eric Holder?
How tough is this guy? He looks like he could hold his own on the basketball court with Barack Obama. He may be a couple of inches taller?

From his comments, we might assume that he will follow the law wherever it leads? We are all familiar with his role in the Rich pardon by Clinton. But that was several years ago and he may have learned a hard lesson?

It was reported that he was "incensed" at Rahm Emanuel and the White House for their comments about who would and would not be prosecuted for torture? He let it be known that it was the Justice Department that would make that decision. If I were Bush or Cheney, I would be very concerned about this new Attorney-General.

How far will he take this and will he work closely with President Obama on the investigations? Or will he take a more independent route? He seems like a pretty tough nut to crack, in my opinion...

1. I would not care to debate the man. Your observations seem right-on
to me, kentuck.

I don't think the Pukes have really given this administration much careful thought. They're out tossing tea bags into local lakes and rivers and of course the hate radio hosts are braying like jackasses over the airwaves, but by and large, it does feel as if the "loyal opposition" has greatly underestimated Obama's Cabinet officials.

Including Holder.

3. Holder told David Swanson the other day, "You will be proud of the U.S."
This was said as Holder was leaving a hearing as a reply to David's request from the audience that there be prosecutions.

I have to add that both Holder's & Obama's having grown up black will serve them well in their tough positions. They have probably faced tougher opposition in life than any of us can imagine -- & it has only made them stronger to deal with any opposition thrown at them, imho.

5. That's very heartening.
No matter what, I don't see a reality where the BFEE gang rides off into the sunset with all their loot - unless there's a firing squad waiting just over the horizon.

of the DoD money was given to him by congress. Whatever happened to that $9 million that was "lost", is what I'd like to know. There are too many "why's" that haven't been explained. Congress & the media let these crooks continue on & on with no accountability until there's just an insurmountable amount of corruption to delve into.

4. I like hearing that there is dissension within the administration.
In this case its a sign of intelligent people with principles.

7. I'd debate him on the support he gave to Chiquita's use of death squads against labor activists.

I don't think of him as a "tough nut"--more like a compromised choice who may do the right thing if pushed hard enough in my opinion.

And on edit, I'm not sure physical height has much to do with courage and honor. Helen Thomas is a rather small woman, but I'd vote for her in a tete-a-tete with any administration official, Republican or Democratic.
