I've gone through the platform. It's a big mess. We need a leaner, more practical platform than the one Obama has been saddled with.

5. I am all for that, if you cut out ... |

The anti-civil rights provisions found about the 2nd Amendment in it.
It is pure hypocrisy to argue, for the rest of the document, and shit on the 2nd.
It saddens me, along with many others, to need to face down my own party over this issue.

Democrats is that it is exactly the same argument used by the right wing of the republican party. You would have to be blind not to see that.Inclusion means successfully running the government, exclusion means failure.

A party full of members with good ideas would do just fine, if it kicked out all the guys with bad ideas.
The repubs kick out anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

pure as they supposedly are. The Democrats have moderates and in a few cases some conservatives along with liberals and progressives. That is why they are a broader political party than the GOP. That is why they can win elections in all parts of the country, unlike the GOP. If JFK were alive today and took the same positions he did in 1961 he would be called a DINO. He was slow on civil rights, favored giving tax cuts to the rich and a cold warrior who wanted to beef up the defense budget (which incidentally Ike didn't want to do).

9. I never did want to purge the party of anyone... |

over points of view, and really hate the term DINO. For instance, in a place like Nebraska, we're lucky enough to have any Democrat at all, and since he represents a deep red state, there's no point in complaining about how he represents them.
It might be nice to think about piles of minor parties actually having a voice in government, but we seem to be stuck with a two party system, so both parties have to be mildy off center, with a few radicals on the fringe to keep things stirred up. If we ever did manage to purge and purify our party to the extent the Republicans have, I firmly believe we would end up in much worse shape than they are-- the far left just doesn't have the stones or the appeal the far right has.

their conservative "voice" was already overshadowing any moderate voice. They are their own group now--whatever that is.
Dangerous group for sure.
