When I look at the news or read the news, as to Swine Flu, I see all sorts and kinds of articles about the panic over this illness, the death of a toddler, etc.
Does anyone have a link where this is discussed medically? Like the symptoms, the actual illness itself, precautions, etc.
I hear and read bits and pieces and would like some better info ~~ and there is no better place than the DU to get informed with the actual facts of a matter.
TIA....:hi:

1. Start by calling it H1N1 not swine flu. |

The common name is the swine flu whether the pig producers like it or not. It is what it is.

8. Ambiguous -- there are multiple common H1N1 flu strains |
|
Actually, there are multiple swine flus as well.
It would probably be best to call it 2009 flu, for the year of detection.

9. Has it been given a specific designation? H1N1-F-2009, or something |
|
like that?
The poo-poohers keep talking about how few people it's killed, when it is actually a very new bug with a relatively small distribution - and there are literally dozens of other flu bugs currently circulating. It is really the height of disengenuousness to compare figures for this one strain against the combined figures of all other strains ('flu' kills 36,000/yr in the US, but this one only killed 1).
sloppy thinking.
