"I just hate that smile Obama gives all the time" |
|
This from a cashier at BevMo. When I asked "What about Bush's giggling and joking about the deaths of soldiers, etc." and she answers back "But that's different - Bush was destroyed by the Liberal Media."
I have no patience with these people.
And yes, she was working at BevMo because she lost her job in the Bush Recession/Depression.
Criminy!

Although I should just patronize my local family run craft beer store in Livermore. They're cool, they carry San Diego beers and if they don't have it they find it.

it's definitely the cause of those idiots who want to revolt or secede or whatever. If our DEMOCRACY had elected someone who looked like Bill Clinton they'd still stomp and fuss but they'd also get back to their lives. They can NOT carry on like normal now.

|
treated them like crap and then after the end of slavery continued to treat you like a second class citizen. now imagine one of those folks is elected president. do you think some of these people fear that their own prejudices might be turned around. I honestly think some of these people are afraid that a black president would enslave them or something and they would be subjected to the crap they subjected to black people.

14. it's AWFUL having a president with confidence and a genuine smile! |
|
god! what are we going to do for the next 4 to eight years looking at that genuine, friendly smile! The kind that draws folks in. The kind that can melt cold relationships with other leaders. Much better to have a president who acts tough because he has issues. a guy who brings his personal problems to the white house and then uses them as an excuse to invade another country!! Yes, it sucks having a president who can listen to other people's views and tries to remember what he is here for. Bring back the immature war criminal!

giggle in your sleeve Do not laugh outright in their faces
And remember don't panic, don't turn your back on a person infected with GOP WHINE FLU. Together we will stop the spread this illness.

31. The only way someone could hate how Obama smiles is via pure envy. |
|
He's the most physically good looking and personally charming inhabitant of the Oval Office since JFK.
Envy, not to be confused with jealousy, seeks to destroy its object. And, it's usually incurable.

|
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 05:03 PM by EFerrari
jealousy is a three headed thing -- how one feels watching a beloved with someone else, for example.
Jealousy can be pretty toxic but nowhere near as poisonous as envy because jealousy can be diffused by communication. Envy is much more rooted in personalities and no amount of communication or emotional processing seems to alleviate it very much.

37. I'd say both of those situations are jealousy, i.e., wanting |
|
a relationship that others are enjoying.
Envy seems to be much more about fixating on one person, wanting what they have and hating them for what they have -- beauty, money, success, lovers, whatever.
So, I guess you can feel envious toward one person AND jealous of that person's relationships.
In "Othello", for example, Othello is jealous of Desdemona and Cassio but Iago is envious of everything Othello has.
There is a medieval woodcut of Envy, figured as a woman (of course) and she is starving to death watching another woman in the distance. That always seems to me a clear illustration of envy -- destroying yourself from the inside as you wish to destroy that Other over there. (Shudder)

It has to do with greed. But jealousy is an emotion based in feeling insecure and fearful that something or someone will be taken from you.

39. Exactly. Envy is about coveting what another has and is all about greed |
|
and usually the kind of greed that is insatiable, that knows no end.
Jealousy is much more about fearing loss, even if in imagination. It's more social than envy and more tractable.
