Souter Has Impeccable Timing |
|
He held on through the dark years, and is retiring while President Obama's approval numbers are very high. All President's start with high numbers, usually artificially high. The nature of domestic politics erodes the public support steadily through the following years. With few opportunities to regain such high approval.
The timing for this pick is perfect. President Obama can truly choose who he feels is the best candidate without making any concessions to the right. This is his choice to make. I can't wait!

2. I think it's the shittiest timing - couldn't he wait a month until he decides |
|
Now it's almost a guarentee that Coleman will take this to the SCOTUS because the republicans do NOT want to lose that 60th vote

The Supreme Court won't hear it. And, it won't effect the nominees confirmation.

4. you don't think they're working right now with Alito, Scalia or Thomas to get this thru |
|
I don't trust the Supreme Court - not after what they did in December of 2000. Anyone who doesn't take this threat seriously is crazy.

5. Could they even get it on the Supreme Court docket before the end of the term? |

6. I have no idea - I just don't trust the SCOTUS |
|
I mean Souter is a good man and I know he would actually uphold the law. But 4 of them I do NOT trust and Kennedy - you never know which way that man will vote
