Morning Joe Summary for MAY DAY! |
|
The biggest, most resonate series of discussions was pro ably the talk of a possible new Supreme. Joe was making huge noise (and he's been repeating it on MSNBC since) that "Democrats always make SC nominations hysterical ideological fist fights.. while Republicans always just go along in a friendly sort of way, not making a big deal of ideological differences".. I nearly fell off my chair. This assertion was, of course, not backed up by anything.. and I was sorry that Lawrence O'Donnell didn't push back on it when he had the chance...
The meme seems to be that it will be "Identity Politics all the way". This was pushed by Gregory AND Todd in their respective segments... These two also posited that He'll choose a "liberal, yes, but one with no 'rough edges'".. Buchanosaurus interjected "Not a 'Jocelyn Elder flamer'". Gregory also said that "Republicans have had a reliable infrastructure to consult for judicial appointees... (I read that to mean the Federalist Society)..but that Democrats have no such stable platform.
Rough edges, you see, might actually make the court go rightward..."Thomas actually moved the Court LEFT because his brand of conservatism was so repugnant to both Kennedy & O'Connor"
O'Donnell said that Obama might even get as many as 4 bites of the apple, and that takes the pressure off this first appointment. It depends on the nominee. He should get the chance to both be "moderate" AND "lock down his base" in these several appointments.
Everything else this morning was rehashed Biden gaffe and "What's the future for Chrysler" stuff. Mika pouted that Chrysler should have bankrupted sooner and not wasted the federal dollars that were poured in trying to save it.
Oh.. Columbia should be a model for how to proceed in Afganistan ("Fighting insurgency with Social Work" - Maureen Orth(sp?) from Vanity Fair)
. . . and Apparently the hottest ticket in town is for the WH Correspondents Dinner next weekend.

Culling through this 3 hour daily crap-fest for political directives & Slant-Starter Kits is not always pleasent.

3. Culling? You're being way to kind. |

Wading through shit would be more like it. So the Democrats are the hysterical ideologues? OMG :banghead:
(And to answer my own question: The featured entertainer at this year's WH Correspondents Dinner will be actress/comedian Wanda Sykes.)
