Hasselbeck on the "sadistic giddiness of true radical leftists, laughing about Bristol Palin"

King also talked with Hasselbeck about Bristol Palin, the daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, being a spokeswoman for abstinence.

King: What do you make of that choice?

Hasselbeck: I think she's the perfect choice. She has a tangible, living example of what this new responsibility is in her life. I believe that there is a sort of sadistic giddiness on the part of some true radical leftists, who are laughing behind-the-scenes about Bristol Palin's situation.

Why are they so obsessed with her being a spokesperson for this? She's promoting a great thing -- abstinence. Find me something else that works 100 percent of the time.

Um... pardon me... but.. um... didn't Bristol have a baby? So I guess it doesn't really work 100% of the time. Considering her family is hard core right wing Christian fundies I'd say it doesn't work at all.

26. If Bristol appeared on GMA advocating Hysterectomies to prevent teen pregnancies
Edited on Thu May-07-09 01:14 PM by Supersedeas
Wouldn't that work 100% of the time -- not the solution that everyone would chose, but at least it beats talking about...you know...contraception (cause the Fundy boogie-men don't wanna hear about contraception).

Uh - oh ...............
The concept of the Immaculate Conception has nothing to do with how Jesus was conceived.

It refers to the belief that Mary was the only person ever born without Original Sin, and thus, was the perfect Immaculate vessel to carry the Baby Jesus.

A common misunderstanding, always among Roman Catholics, but among others, as well........

21. Hard to glean that much from the one or two sentences on the subject in the source material.
My guess is that your interpretation has been fleshed out by the Johnny come latelys.

Real fundamentalists with a fundamental view point and understanding of scripture know it either says what it means and means what it says, or it don't.

4. Depending on how you look at it, abstinence has the lowest success rate
seeing as how most people don't stay abstinent.

And Hasslebeck is an even bigger joke!

Why can't they get this?

Bristol is actually the perfect spokesperson for choice, because that's what she had, and that's what she made.

15. "Sadistic giddiness"?
My, that tells me a bit more about Ms. Hasselbeck than I want to know. But if a person puts herself out in the public domain, even one as young as Ms. Palin, there are going to be comments, and Ms. Hasselbeck really shouldn't pretend otherwise.

20. What's sadistic about the whole thing is ...
putting the poor girl out there in the public eye while she was pregnant during the election. And even worse continuing to use her and her new baby for their own political agenda. I'm sure that if given the choice she wouldn't be doing what she's doing.

You put it between the woman's knees and keep it there. About as good as abstinence I think.

17. I feel sorry for Bristol
but I especially felt weird about how the RNC convention turned Levi/Bristol into some soap opera supercouple, instead of aknowledging that it was a mistake that they have to deal with. The whole "it's normal, it happens to every family" (even though things like this happen, I felt like they whitewashed over the fact that it was a shitty situation about teenagers) from the family values crowd who usually pisses about this stuff was rich. So while I feel(somewhat) sorry for Bristol (no sympathy for Palin though), Elizabeth is so full of shit.I remember her whitewashing "Bristol and Levi were going to get married when they were 18 anyway, and would have gotten married if she wasn't pregnant. This is normal" on The View during the election. What's the point of trying to put window dressing on it, Elisabeth? And her whole "Miss California is being persecuted for her views!" is also rich, considering Bitsy is the type who justified Whoopi losing her slim fast contract/Dixie Chicks being slammed.

23. Teens at Palin's town hall meeting give her a big raspberry

NYC teens who were questioned after the meeting said Palin has no credibility and that abstinence doesn't work and isn't realistic.

She bombed with her own group.
