I plan on calling Bob Menendez's office today to ask him to support single-payer healthcare.

My stupid question is what do I say? I'm incredibly phone-phobic and would rather do this by email, but the urgency is there that it demands a call.

1. You could simply say:

I am a constituent of Sen. Menendez and I would like to state that I am a supporter of single-payer healthcare and want the Senator to support such a measure. Or something like that.

with a pen, on paper.

3. First of all, you will have one of his aides on the line

Just say something like this: "I'm calling to encourage Sen. Menendez to support single-payer healthcare. Please add my name to the list of citizens who are hoping for change."

Good luck! You'll be fine. I hate talking on the phone, but it will only take a few seconds.

I did it

I called, got a female aide. I told her that I am a consitutent of the Senator's and that I support single-payer health care being added to the hearing tomorrow.

She then asked me for my mailing address.
