Just in case someone was monitoring and/or recording, I said "Fuck you and your ignorant protests you conservative fucks" before hanging up. Got a priceless look from my wife out of the deal, too.

9. we would be more successful if we joined them
We are all being collectively screwed by our Corporate Government in this country.

True a large percentage of them are ignorant racist homophobic morans, but a small percentage of them see the bigger picture. If we can find a way to say hey, we see the corruption too, they might listen when we explain to them that if you want your stupid ass unending illegal immoral wars and homeland 'security'...you have to pay your taxes dumbfucks! This might be a good chance to explain to them that all of the things they rally against, welfare etc. are a tiny percentage of their tax dollars. Most of it is wasted on the MIC.

Many of them are against the bailouts- aren't we against the bailouts? This is the main theme of the protests. They do not want to pay taxes to cover this trillion dollar giveaway. Neither do I. Anyone here remember how they took our antiwar protests and made it see like we were just protesting everything. They confused our message for a reason and now they are doing it to the right wing, the people who we have been waiting for them to get off the couch and do something. Well, they may be misguided(warning:understatement) but they do have a point.

If we can find common ground, we might have a chance to all rise up together against the corportate control.

There are certain people that benefit from us bickering with one another...

17. No crap....
Divide and conquer is one their ways of controlling the masses. Wars, and poverty are a couple more.

Those robo calls won't work with the vast majority of Americans....they see right through the whole tea party rant.

Edited on Mon May-11-09 03:19 PM by PassingFair
I wasn't about to spend $5.00 to find out...

but I might be tempted if more people
acknowledge that they are receiving these
calls....

Right now it seems like an appeal to
the midwest...

WI, MN and MI.

12. Well, they're welcome to keep wasting money,
as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, my Caller ID said the caller was "Service Message". If that's any sort of clue, you're more than welcome to it.

Since there was no attribution for the call, there's no way for anyone to donate to whatever moronic freeper organization is making the calls. Anyone who spends that kind of money with no real message is a true moran.

Of course, my phone plan lets me make unlimited long-distance calls for a $25/mo. fee. So, I suppose I could come up with something that would let one of my spare computers make robo-calls for low bucks. Perhaps that's what's going on here. I dunno.

14. More info on these calls
I checked this web site, after a Google search for "Service Message robo call"

http://whocalled.us/lookup/4029820883

These calls are coming from several numbers, most in the 402 area code. The owner of that particular number is: Citistream Communications, INC. - NE

I'll go see what I can find.

15. Citistream Communications -- Omaha, NE
Edited on Mon May-11-09 03:32 PM by MineralMan

It's a third party phone company. They do all sorts of calling services, and claim that they don't allow robo-calls and the like. Sounds like bushwa to me. Might be nice to send them an email.

22. That's all you'll ever get, I think.
That's the business they're in, selling call center services.

What I think this particular robocall is about is elimination of non-voice numbers in a calling area. They're building a database of numbers where some live person picked up the phone. They'll follow up with longer, more detailed calls later on.

It's a common practice. Most times, you pick up the phone and there's dead air, but your phone number gets added to the live user list for future calls. That's why it's best not to pick up on suspect calls at all. Just let 'em go to voice mail. They know that, too, and won't waste their time.

It's called number elimination. They can even tell how long you held on to the phone. Did you listen to the whole robocall? Then, you're a prime number for a call back, since you both picked up the phone and hung on through the whole thing.

You'll be getting other calls soon. They'll sell these numbers to conservative organizations under some category like, "Will Listen To Robocalls." or "Active Live Listener"

The onslaught will begin soon.

31. telemarketing calls are not from citistream which is a carrier
Ron please email dave@tmcallerid.com or call him at 503-327-8183 and complaint immediately and make sure you are on the DO-NOT-CALL LIST.

After we talked to him he registered three telephone numbers of ours with DO-NOT-Call registry. We have not received any telemarketing calls for the past 10 days.

If you have not registered your telephone with the DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY, telemarketing firms can keep calling you. No point getting hassled and calling telephone companies or carriers who own the telephone numbers. Carriers do not have have control on how their telephone service is being used as long as a customer pays the bill. Carriers cannot disconnect or shut down a customer who is paying the bill. Only regulators has authority to shutdown or disconnect a customer through an order. Don't blame the carrier who own the telephone number. Plus carrier cannot give customer information unless it is a supeona issued by regulatory authority.

Telemarketing firms obtains hundreds or thousands of telephone numbers from various carriers within US and initiate calls. Hope this understanding help all of you who are getting these calls. Currently regulators are working with the carriers trying to find the source on which telemarketing firms is making these unwanted calls. For the record they know these calls are not coming from telephone company who officially own the telephone numbers.
