1. Think of all the people that money could help
Edited on Mon May-11-09 08:26 PM by Auggie
No doubt it's helping people in hollywood and the theater business, but think of all those other people barely scraping by who would benefit from a fraction of what we spend on... movies.

Not meaning to rain on your parade DainBramaged... just a thought.

2. There is always somebody who denies the world entertainment
ort claims the money spent on this is better for that, except that without this there would be nothing because we'd all be lemmings.

I get so tired of people telling me that entertainment is bad, American cars are bad, life is fucking bad

give it a rest.

3. Start a trend by sending $10 to someone who needs it - I'm sure there are people it could help
more than what you might spend it on.

5. Oh yeah, I'm the reason our economy sucks eggs
all because I saved my money & went to see fucking movie in a theatre FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER A YEAR. Do I get some credit for not buying anything at the concession stand?

7. Think of the money spent on useless arts classes in schools that could help...
the sports jocks. Oh yeah, lots of schools HAVE cut their arts departments, down to the bone or out completely. Is the world a better place for it? A world without arts and entertainment is a desperately dull, dead world.

I hate it when people are against Arts and Entertainment. I may argue that I wish people would spend more of their entertainment dollars to help small indie films and struggling indie artists/musicians (I mean, the woman in my sig should be regarded as a National Treasure, but she has to work a day job), but I would never say they shouldn't spend money on any entertainment. Not that you said exactly that, but come on! Movies are doing well right now partially BECAUSE people want to escape their problems and movies are a relatively cheap way to get away from it all.

I was never a viewer of the orignal series (or Next Generation) but I thought the new Star Trek rocked, and I'm glad it's doing well.
