1. Quit hogging all the championships!
Back-to-back basketball, football... share the wealth! C'mon!

But hey, as long as North Carolina doesn't win, I'm good to go. Ever since they beat my beloved Illini a couple of years ago...

3. I went to the Dixie Classics Tournament years ago.
We had super seats. It is so exciting. NC basketball was a powerhouse, and I assume it still is. I don't pay much attention now except for the Gators.

4. UNC made it to the Elite Eight this year.
Better than my Illini who got knocked out in the first round. SIGH

So hey if my team can't win someone else might as well be happy. Congrats! I think this Gator team has safely ensured their dynasty status.

5. Texas won the title in football and baseball the same year, no one cared.
Eh, who cares. Watching Joakim Noah run up the bleachers and bury his face in his mother's shoulder stole my heart. I love that kid! Congo-rats, Gators!

14. Seemed quite heart-felt. In all the interviews I've heard with that guy
he seems extremely balanced. Intelligent, polite, confident, analytical... I suspect the NBA team that gets him will be very happy.

13. My gator son found a gator place to watch the games there in TX
They wear all their gator stuff, shirts, caps, wave banners.

My gator brother had very serious surgery today, and I know he will be glad to hear they won. I was hoping for his sake...

6. Hell of a team in both football and B-Ball
This is coming from Columbus, OH.

We are now officially your bee-yochtes.

Florida played very well and every time the bucks made it close the Gators
dropped a 3 on us. Congrats! The better team won.

8. Congrats to the Gators; at least I made money on them
I took 4/1 on Florida winning the title about six weeks ago, and mentioned in the Sports forum that it looked like a bargain.

Other than megatalented but very young North Carolina I didn't see anyone beating the Gators. They had an absolute dream draw, a weak bracket then a Final Four full of three other teams they had recently beaten. Revenge is the biggest pile of garbage ever invented. If you beat someone before there was a reason for it an you likely do it again. In Las Vegas sportsbooks, whenever someone shows up new in town talking about revenge, we know he'll be broke and leaving town in a bus within six months.

That North Carolina collapse against Georgetown ruined the Final Four. The last three games were unbelievably predictable.

But I'm almost glad when the Final Four is nothing but lopsided games. College basketball is incredibly overstated as a sport, with the absurd 3-point-shot. I get sick of people swooning over the sport in general and March Madness in particular. Get rid of the 3-point-shot, or extend it to NBA legit distance, and then you'll have something that doesn't feature three bozos doing nothing but making sure their toes are behind an arbitrary line.

11. I didn't watch much of the game because I knew what would happen.
Saw the Gators against Auburn. One of the best college basketball teams I've seen. Way better than some of those Kentucky teams that my old Auburn guy Charles Barkley battled against. Congrats Gators.

18. Auburn could have had a chance at a title if Dirk Nowitzki had taken

Charles Barkley's $2M dollars and enrolled.

15. Congrats, you earned it. Didn't watch today, and haven't read the paper for two days
cause I'm still bitter about Saturday. No doubt the better team won, but still....

17. Lotsa happy Gators tonight...
For UF fans, another party in the streets

<snip>

"Thousands of University of Florida students swamped Gainesville's main thoroughfare Monday night, shooting off fireworks, tossing toilet paper and setting furniture on fire. For the third time in a year, they celebrated the Gators as national champions, winning a second basketball national championship on the heels of a football title in January.

Men took off their shirts and women sat atop shoulders, fingers in the air for No. 1. As traffic signals changed color above them, they shouted cheers: "It's great! To be! A Florida Gator!"

The crowd pressed together, smelling of beer, cigars and sweat. Students danced on an awning on the strip of bars known as Midtown, just north of the UF campus and the basketball arena where 11,221 people watched the game on four giant TV screens.

"It's truly the year of the Gator," said Chris Leak, the team's championship-winning quarterback, in an interview after he appeared in the O'Connell Center to ask fans to party responsibly. "This is really a special moment. A moment they need to enjoy and enjoy and enjoy."
