16. No.... religion in THE WORLD is the most destructive force on the planet

It's not an American thing.

Religion kills.

It kills people AND progress.

20. no, human nature is the most destructive force on the planet
and religion like any construct that billions of humans are invested in, reflects both the worst and best in us.

8. Most of that shit (substitute "opposition" for GOP) is present in most "modern" cultures here on
earth. And, truth to tell, a lot of it we didn't even invent. The Big Daddy of reality shows, Big Brother, is an overseas import. The Japanese have been putting people in humiliating situations on televison (games of smarts, strength, agility, cleverness, or simple ability to do stupid things on telly) for many, many decades.

I think the flood of all that crap contributes to the superficiality. No sense in griping about it, though--it's unlikely to change.

11. "Other." And my answer is...
AMERICAN CULTURE!

The very essence of American Culture is superficial.

The least superficial aspects of American Culture achieve that state by rejecting American Culture.

18. Other...
Flag lapel pins and their flimsy facade of patriotism. Wearing one makes you a good citizen, just like those cheezy yellow car magnets contribute anything to the well-being of our troops.

Gack.

21. As superficial as a Jesus Fish on a brand new Cadillac Escalade?
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
