they knew everything they needed to know about al qaeda on 9/10. they had wiretaps on everyones phones. they knew who was who and where they were. they didnt need to torture people to learn more.

the only reason they tortured, setup guantanamo, etc...was because it was in their POLITICAL interest as a party in order to create phony divisions / thorny legal issues that they could use in elections. as their war of choice in iraq shows, they had no interest in defending america as long as there was something in it for them.
