A country of worthless opinions
I guarantee whatever I post will be met with the exact opposite opinion, regardless of its content. Why: because nothing anybody says matters, only actions matter.

And on that note, we're still a country with torturers going free, a for-profit healthcare scam, a justice system for the rich, the biggest propaganda network ever created and a completely collapsed financial system that is being totally propped up by a government that represents the very people who caused the collapse. So go ahead, correct my spelling, tell me how it's only been 100 days, tell me how clueless I am -- I just don't care about peoples worthless opinions anymore.

Let's actually change this country for the better.

2. The US population wants to be heard
But they don't want to do anything about it. You hit the nail on the head.

4. "But they don't want to do anything about it"
What a load. People try and make themselves heard all the time - Including those who got arrested trying to get a seat at the health care discussions.

7. The history is undeniable
America doesn't like to take action on civil rights.

12. I'm 62 and I went to D.C. to march for civil rights in August of '63
I was part of a vast crowd.

My view of history and civil rights actions is vastly different from yours. My living history is undeniable.

Speak for yourself.

17. Well, good for you then - that shows why gays are open in the military
It also explains marriage equality that we all enjoy, along with free education, universal free health care, universal worker's rights and of course, the extraordinary diversity of religious views represented in our government. It's true, your living history is undeniable, but that's only because you're living IN denial.

19. You don't get everything all at once nor in one lifetime
That's the strength of the corporations to fight back with ease. We're on a slow and steady grinding march. That's reality not denial.

24. I disagree
We have a formidable opponent in corporations who enjoy personhood.

Our system wasn't set up to work quickly no matter how much we really want something. The best example of that is the Senate with its labyrinthine procedures. If we choose to work within our system of government we're stuck with the long grinding process.

This is what I know.

How about protests, talking to people in my community, voting, petitioning and never giving up? I've done it all and will continue to do it, despite people like you.

10. No way!!
Our opinions are the most important thing, they make the world go round which makes the sunrise everyday. Every one knows the sun rises.

You just have a down to earth, realistic view of the world and you're a damned Liberal thinking about things other than you. Get over it already!!

The sun will rise tomorrow and it will be a new day. Have some sunny optimism for 'Change' and you'll feel like a good true-blooded Gawd fearing American again.

11. Ah, the rash exuberance of youth - you have to have an opinion before you can take an action
You see, without opinions there is never action. You gotta think about something before you do something about it.

27. Oh come on!
I'm an Obama supporter but if you really think that Obama or any other man can step into the presidency and fix our problems then Ive got a bridge Ill sell you. Without some courage in congress, nothing can happen. Congress can fix these problems WITHOUT the help or CONSENT of the president. If you want single payer...congress can do it. If you want investigations into torture...congress can do it... If you want credit card reform...Congress can do it. The Congress really has the power in this country just ask Hillary Clinton. When she tried to help fix the health care issue, the democratic controlled congress shot her down.

20. The problem is people are fighting the symptoms, not the disease.
Edited on Tue May-12-09 05:10 PM by Beam Me Up
Everyone wants to get their little piece of the pie.

But the underlying problem is a global economic system that is classist and fascist and has been a long, long time.

You can't really "fix it" one piece at a time. Yeah, maybe you win one battle here but loose two battles there.

To really make significant change you have to identify the core of the beast and go for the jugular.

21. I know what you mean..and sometimes I think
we all spend way too much online, but at the same time, that's exactly what is changing everything isn't it? The online presence of progressives are what stoked the fire 8 years ago, made it so Howard Dean moved grassroots movements into more mainstream discussions, which in turn helped develop the 50 state strategy, which in turn , we have Obama, and although it's not all perfect, at least we have begun to steer the country in a better direction than where it was surely headed. Progressive thinking will begin to rule-you'll see.
