1. I just saw it over the weekend. |
|
When I read today about the mass migrations that global warming will cause, I thought about the movie right away.

3. That scene and just about every other scene with Julianne Moore |
|
was outstanding.
And I've never seen a better performance by Clive Owen.
Great film.

12. which is saying alot, he is good |
|
was very emotional.
Michael Caine's whole storyline and death scene, moving.
The moment I mentioned in the car, powerful.
And I don't wanna outmyself here as a guy who crys at movies, cause I don't, but the scene where the fighting stopped at the child really got to me. I was suprised that it affected me, but it did.

10. Good discussion. It's been slowly getting touted here on DU, but the threads don't always last |
|
Still, word seems to be slowly spreading...

6. I wish we had a place to go to see all the recommended movies/ |

documentaries. That would be sweet, to share and refer to, whether they are online or available for rent. There is a need for that. Thanks, shadowknows69.

Perhaps because it touched too accurately on too many raw nerves...

I watched Shortbus tonight. That was an eyeful. The reviews on Netflix are a hoot.
I will watch Children of Men as soon as I get some free time. I heard it was good.

"Y Tu Mama" was an uplifting movie about death. This is a depressing movie about life.

18. Watch the documentary with it too! |
|
It is by the director of the movie and the 30 minute documentary is amazing. It is under Special Features: The Possibility of Hope
They interview various philosophers, economists and culture critics about our future, especially the impact of global warming.
This is the real thing. Check out the current issue of Vanity Fair and the article about the siege of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Quite different, though.
And if you watch the movie, be sure to stay for the closing song of the credits; truer words were never sung.

23. The best movie of the year |
|
I loved, loved this movie. It was depressing & sad, yet also somehow uplifting & inspiring at the same time. I was so disappointed that it didn't win an Oscar - for the incredible cinematography, at least.

I could watch that film every day and find something new each time. The film was the best of the year, hands down. And it's a crime this was not even nominated/won for Best Director/Best Film.
