Am I missing something regarding the whole Pelosi flap?
Weren't all those who were present at the "enhanced interrogation" briefing sworn to secrecy and threatened with treason if they talked about it?

8. I hate to say it, but they really don't understand power
and the GOP lives and breathes power.

Power only works when you are willing to use it.
And the dems aren't interested or willing or able to use it.
Damned if I can understand it

3. And there's another congressman who's proven that CIA lied
... about the dates on which they say they briefed him. And he says their records are also faulty regarding the content of the briefings.

I get the impression that the press is loving this story. It has all the elements of drama that moves paper. Hell, if I were a journalist, I'd be loving it too... though there does seem to be more excitement about potential hypocrisy from Pelosi than there ever was excitement about hypocrisy of Republic Fascist Party members (is that what we're calling them now that we're Democrat Socialists?... I seem to have lost the memo).

I'm kind of hoping the bad press spurs Pelosi on to do more in the way of investigations... if not because it's the right thing to do, at least to clear herself and improve her odds in her next re-election bid.

15. I'd love to get in on that bet!!
And I'm sure that Cheney could find a handful of CIA briefing staff to bullshit Pelosi... and I wouldn't be surprised if there were some of them that would now be willing to say whatever Darth might think they should say. The real question then, as I see it, is: Do any of the CIA briefers have the conscience and will to stand up to Darth and tell the truth?

What're your odds on at least one of those briefers coming out and, if the classified-ness of the briefing is cancelled, admitting that Pelosi's version of events is correct?

14. Yes. This could backfire. And I think it will.
By pushing Pelosi towards the cliff, the right will energize her. She can't be accused of playing politics for calling for investigations to clear her name.

4. Never let the facts get in the way of a good smear
Pelosi was the mastermind of torture. She actually did the waterboarding herself and broke Abu Zubaida within 30 seconds, thus finally solving the mystery of the Lindbergh Baby case. Well done Nancy!

12. It's not necessarily what she knew......
but that IF she knew anything about it, she didn't protest to the administration, not that she didn't spill the beans to the public. (Which I'm sure would have been treason and they would have had her drawn and quartered live on Fox news.)

16. assuming the latter statement is true
it would have at least gotten the issue out into the public early on and could have led who knows where?

13. yes but...
Congress is a "check and balance" for the president. This should be ESPECIALLY TRUE with SECRET activities. For other activites, "we" can see what's happening. For "secret" activities that only a few people know about it is Congress' duty to stop it, whatever that takes. Whatever else comes from the "Pelosi flap" I hope congress defines the process for dealing with illegal but "secret" activites in the future. "It was secret" should never again be used as an argument for not acting.
