Union Blasts Role Of “Cheney Cabal” In Fighting EFCA

In another effort to stamp Dick Cheney’s face on the opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act, the AFL-CIO is blasting the role of the “Cheney cabal” in fighting the measure, pointing to Cheney’s daughter Mary’s position at a prominent D.C. firm that’s working to sink labor’s top priority.

Dick Cheney had already begun to speak out publicly against EFCA, much to the delight of unions who are using Cheney to tar the anti-EFCA movement. But now there’s another wrinkle to the story.

It turns out that Mary Cheney is a principle at the D.C. communications firm Navigators Global. One of the key anti-EFCA business-backed groups, the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, hired Navigators Global after Dems took control of Congress to develop the group’s strategy for sinking EFCA.

The unions claim this shows that Dick Cheney has more than an ideological interest in speaking out against EFCA — it helps his daughter’s firm, they say.
