1. There is one big difference..... |
|
it REMAINS maddening for many of us, but when I saw this my first thought was:
The big difference is that the one administration actually perpetuated the crime, the second is having to deal with it.
Granted, that "dealing" with it may seem to be covering for others' crimes, and that becomes a close second in culpability.
But bottom line, when the Bush Admin kept it under wraps, it was to keep THEIR crimes under wraps. That is a distinguishing difference.

3. Either we want them released, or we don't |
|
And at one point we did.
The only thing that has changed in the equation is who is in power.
If bush were still in power and blocking them, those threads would not be in the archive they would be current.
Matthew Brady, 'nuff said.

and I want them released. Period.
But in terms of being infuriated as to the REASON for them not being released, I'll always be more furious at the Bush crowd because it was THEIR crimes they were covering. That said, if these photos (or at least investigation OF these photos in a concrete way, with reports to the public of same) don't come to light, that "covering" does indeed become just as damaging and harmful.
I'm just sayin'....for now, in the early stage of this....my anger still lies with the perpetrators.

5. I suppose the question we have to ask ourselves, myself included, is |
|
If you were president right now, what would you do?
And that is kind of how I base my criticisms/praise of someone in power.
I would release them and show the American people what was done in our name, apologize publicly to those tortured, and assure the rest of the world that this administration won't tolerate it.

8. Prosecuting the war crimes is not something we can turn our |

backs on...there's no going forward until this is done. Business as usual only makes us worst than the perps.

10. Indeed, poor people who break the law go to jail/trial and no one says |
|
instead 'well, that crime was a month ago, we need to move on'

9. We, the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, must push on all important |
|
issues because without pressure our wishes will not be acknowledged. Obama is no progressive. We can get some things done but only by being loud and strong.
