|
Right now they're pretty happy with their $10 a 25lb bag corn. Who knows what kind of revolt I'd have on my hands if they saw that!

9. I fed the darned things peanuts in the shell. |
|
Greedy little buggers! Now they won't eat corn. They do still manage to empty the bird feeder, though, for the sunflower seeds. Rotten little tree rats!
The new babies are out now, and another generation of the evil rodents will soon be eating out of my hand. :bounce:

11. We purchase a bag of "rejects" |
|
these are different kind of shelled nuts, mostly peanuts, that are rejected by the candy industry for falling on the floor, or something. I think that they are sweet and every one in the back yard loves them, including the small brown birds and... the young foxes.
Last summer it took us awhile to realize that the foxes were not after the squirrels, but loved those peanuts.
Yes, peanuts in the shell is the preferred food, no salt, of course, and bird seeds, anything in the shell that can be... squirreled away.
I purchase a bag of mixed seeds and corn and they love all of them. They suck the kernels and then the bunnies, or the ducks, eat the rest.

8. And yet some people hate squirrels ? |
|
I love watching squirrels do their clown routines. It's way better than TV.
