Why the Caged Bird Sang

It's impossible to say to yourself how did we get there? Who are we? Who are these people that sent us there?

Dick Cheney has been doing a lot of talking lately. From his most recent barrage of public statements, we have gleaned that he loves Rush Limbaugh, doesn't much care for Colin Powell, believes President Obama is about to sell the Sixth Fleet to the Taliban for pennies on the dollar and thinks torture is a nifty and effective tool that saves lives and defends freedom. Really, this isn't anything we haven't heard before from our growly, snarly, face-blasting former vice president. But it does beg the question: What the hell is he up to? NPR's Ron Elving posited the question in a Wednesday article titled "What is Dick Cheney Trying to Accomplish?"

1. Poison The Waters, Nullify The Jury And Numb The Rest...
Gotta give the right wing spin machine some credit...as one can see here with the attacks on Pelosi, this diversion is having some effect. Remember, the GOOP has always worked with the "big lie"...say it loud enough and often enough and people will believe it. Crashcart and his ilk know that one five to ten second sound bite is gold...it gets played over and over and soon the corporate media begins to submit and take the talking points as being "fact".

Despite all the shreading and indimidating, cheney knows that there's still a lot of evidence that will come forward showing him and others were complicit in war crimes and their game is to negate that...play up the "kept us safe" bullshit that, if takes, can justify everything...not just torture but wiretapping and other violations of the Constitution. Remember, crashcart came out of the Nixon era believing that the reason he was forced out was that he wasn't strong enough...that he should have stood by "if the President does it, it's not illegal".

We're getting cloesr and closer to learning with FACT that cheney was central in manipulating intel and usurping executive power to launch an unprovoked war for profit. The case is getting clear and clear that he was the key figure in the most heinous criminal enterprise ever to invade the beltway and the blood on his hands can't be washed off by papering them over.

Here's hoping Speaker Pelosi calls this scumbag's bluff...investigate! Get it all out...cause unless we do, a future crashcart is watching...

2. I find it passing strange that Hastert, who just started lobbying for Turkish Govt., gets no mention
Edited on Sun May-17-09 08:31 AM by KittyWampus
in all of this. HE was Speaker in 2002 when Cheney was ordering torture.

His campaigns took money from Turkish agents.

If any member of Congress deserves scrutiny for their conduct during the 2002 time period- it's Hastert.
