http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.phpPresident Bush made an emergency declaration for 23 counties in Iowa yesterday. It will trigger the release of federal funds for communities ravaged by last month's snow storms. The Federal Emergency Management Association will provide help for emergency protective measures. That includes snow removal. The federal government will provide funds to public entities for expenditures made during the storm. It lasted from February 28th to March 2nd. Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management administrator David Miller says that snow declarations are based on record or near-record setting snow storms. Governor Chet Culver had asked for 37 counties to receive assistance.
