gay marriage seems to be a Judeo-Christian phenomenon
The neoconservatives place a lot of emphasis on the "Judeo-Christian" ideals our country was founded on.

Check out this list (Wikipedia, so caveats apply) of countries with varying degrees of recognition of gay marriage. With the exception of Taiwan and Nepal, this seems to be a Western, aka Judeo-Christian, thing.

Think about this: what countries are not on this list? what countries are unlikely EVER to be on this list? Does the U.S. want to be that type of country?

1. I was going to mention Japan and South Korea are not on the list
but you already referenced that in your OP

South Korea will never recognize anything close to even civil unions in my lifetime.

Hopefully, they will eventually begin to move in that direction.
