The neoconservatives place a lot of emphasis on the "Judeo-Christian" ideals our country was founded on. Check out this list (Wikipedia, so caveats apply) of countries with varying degrees of recognition of gay marriage. With the exception of Taiwan and Nepal, this seems to be a Western, aka Judeo-Christian, thing. Think about this: what countries are not on this list? what countries are unlikely EVER to be on this list?
