someone said earlier that this place is becoming "teen beat" obama.
because we no longer discuss policy.

i would concur with this point.

anyone who does not see the "grand plan"

is labeled as a "freeper" or has loyalty brought into question.

there HAS to be some sort of policy disagreements.

HAS to.

it is not natural for dems to be herded like this.

we are democrats.

we are diverse.

we may not always agree with our president but we can talk about it WITHOUT dismissing certain viewpoints. (unless they are madness)

Obama's strategy may not be yours. You are free to talk about it.
just don't go to "beck ville"
:)

4. I happen to dissagree
There has been a bit of a tradition that's grown on this board the last few years. Much of it from the internet campaigners.

A topic could be brought up on this forum that is well within the rules. If a certain group does not agree with it, they flame the shit out of it, and the OP gets his thread locked. Anyone else that entered into the discussion with valid points and a reasonable back and forth get's punished because of it.

That shit never took place here when I first joined four years ago. And I have seen sections of this board where people orchestrate that shit and flag posse certain members to the mods. This is a new thing that began during the primaries and it hasn't stopped.

17. It takes two to flamewar.
Don't want a flamewar? Don't encourage the flamers.

Besides, your issue is irrelevant to my point. There are consistently more threads that criticize Obama than those that support him.

It's really nothing new. It's usually the status quo around here during the primaries, and many of the topics never change.

45. Not on this board. All it take is five to six people to flame the OP
The OP doesn't have to respond in order to have a thread locked.

My issue is not irrelevant to you point. It specically addresses it.

You're trying to defend a weakened position while pretending the pertinent issues addressing it do not exist; cognitive dissonance.

47. I have NEVER seen threads critical of Obama outnumber those that praise him
EVER.

Not even when the critisim is justified.

Again, cognitive dissonance.

Reason why, and I am sure there probably would be more of em, is becuase those that are are quickly shut down and reported by flamers. Also, TONS of folks that have posted here for years have completely split the place for greener pastures.

As usual, you position is weak on this and aren't doing anything but repeat what you want to see.

I don't object to disagreement, that's what discussion boards are for.

I object to overtly vitriolic disagreement that "echoes the tone and substance of our opponents."

Edited on Sun May-17-09 08:59 PM by Vickers
you're even more delusional than you are inept at debating.

Your use of "Tean Beat Obama" reveals that you are (a) incapable of formulating your own thoughts/arguments, and are instead (b) using "punch" phrases to bolster your admittedly weak-ass premises.

Then you try to back-pedal (look throughout this sorry-ass thread), and then you attack me by calling me *gasp!* a MORAN!!! which is even more joke-theft.

Do you have an original thought in your head, or do you merely parrot what you feel is the rising tide in a given situation?

Synopsis: Obama is amazing, anyone who doens't like what he is doing or who criticizes is a GOP troll or a useful idiot being used by the GOP. This is no different than the 'you are with us or you are with the terrorists' language we saw Bush engage in.

------------------------------------------------------------------

President Obama is NOT A COWARD as suggested by the GOP and their trolls

He is Priceless, an Inspiration, a trend setter for better Leadership. He is just what this Nation needs at this critical Time...

All too often the GOP come to disparage him....nit picking and whining...they have one thing in mind...to weaken him and wish he fails....

That is the GOP....they make themselves appear so Holy and innocent by attacking the DEM Party and its Individuals...its a PUB PLOT to Denigrate our side....

They are BULLIES who lost 2 elections and it driving them off the edge....

Instead of sound solutions for America....they whine and Target victims like Nancy...the GOP is Despicable and Dirty...

Bush and his whole Gang should be put under the Microscope 1000X and examined for crimes.....there are many from what I see....

41. He is an inspiration to millions
Edited on Sun May-17-09 09:26 PM by Juche
And he has probably done more for domestic morale and international reputation than anything else in the last 50 years. The % of the public who think the country is on the right track has gone from about 10% up to about 40% since Obama took office. Just knowing Bush is gone and Obama is in charge has allowed our nation to let out a giant sigh of relief because the competent, compassionate adults are back in charge.

I believe it is now about 48% of people who think we are on the right track.

But that doesn't change the fact that he abandons and hides his principles, or that he tries to cover up Bush's war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Edited on Sun May-17-09 08:12 PM by Patsy Stone
Teen Beat was a fan mag in the 80s full of young pin-up boys and bands. In the 70s there was 16 and Tiger Beat with photos of hot studs like David Cassidy and Donny Osmond. It means they are calling them mindless groupies/fangirls/fanboys.

In this case it has nothing to do with the actual age of the Obama supporter, just their perceived-to-be immature behavior.

18. I don't mind them having their "Teen Beat" Threads.
If that floats their boat, go for it.
I don't ever go there and try to disrupt their party.

What I do mind is the invasion of threads that are critical of Obama Policy by a certain small group that attempts to disrupt the discussion with multiple mindless posts, tag team sub threads, and personal insults.
The abundance of chaff spawned by this small group makes sifting for the wheat more difficult.

It is getting a little easier.
Most of them have so totally marginalized themselves that it is easy to recognize the screen names and just scroll past them without wasting any time.

Cheers.

24. Some of the stuff posted on DU is pretty close to that...
"He's Bush III"

"He's a corporate whore"

"Four more years of the same old, same old"

"Obama is completely selling out the left/liberals/Democrats/world"

Not quite as crazy, I'll admit, but similarly detached from reality.

The funny thing is...stuff like this is posted quite often on DU, yet some think it's turning into "Teenbeat Obama". Obviously, they aren't really paying attention or are being intentionally obtuse.
