Can Someone Explain This About Google Adsense

I have google adsense ads on my website at www.oreilly-sucks.com. Yesterday I had 1,439 page impressions with 24 clicks, that's a 1.67% click thru rate, with a cost per thousand hits (CPM) of $0.56 cents. For that I earned a whopping $0.81 cents.

Now today, as of 11:30am I have 371 page impressions with 5 clicks, that's a 1.35% click thru rate, with a cost per thousand hits (CPM) of, get this, $3.23, and for that I have earned $1.20 so far today.

Can anyone explain why there is such a big difference in the CPM payout rate, the very next day. I am wondering why the CPM is $0.56 cents one day with a 1.67% CTR, then the next day I suddenly get a CPM of $3.23 with a 1.35% CTR, it does not seem to make sense to me.

I have seen something like this before, the other day I had virtually identical numbers for 2 days in a row, and one day the payout was $2.40, but the very next day only paid $0.60 cents. And I tried getting an answer from google about this with no luck, they do not reply to e-mails, and the forum they have is a joke. I posted a question there and nobody ever answered it.

1. I hope you're not depending on those ad revenues to pay your mortgage.
;)

(and, no, I don't have a clue about how it works)

I live with my 85 year old retired Father, and he pays all the bills, except for my internet expenses.

2. Follow Up...........

Check this out, I found these two screen captures I did from two days last month.

I average $0.61 cents for every thousand hits I get, which is the CPM rate. But on 4-21-09 I suddenly got a $2.48 CPM and $7.25 in earnings for one day, that was for 2,900 page impressions and 35 clicks. Now the very next day I got 2,700 page impressions and 26 clicks, but I only got a $0.45 cent CPM and I only earned $1.26 for almost the same numbers.

Does this make sense to anyone, and if it does, can you explain it to me.

3. How do you get hooked up so that you earn money?
Do YOU have to contact prospective advertisers or does Google do that for you?

6. Able1........

You just sign up for the google adsense program, then you put their script on your web pages, and that's it. Then you just wait for them to send you a check, once you break $100 they mail you a check.

4. You're getting clicks from more expensive ads
The difference between $1.00 per click ad and a dime a click ad, if I understand your question correctly.

8. Sounds like it
n/t

Adsense ads come from entities that bid on Google's keyword-based Adwords program. Clickthru payouts are dependent on which Adwords bidders ads get clicked.

10. sandnsea...........

Are you saying they may have sold higher priced ads one day apart, I am not sure that is true, don't they sell them a month at a time, do you know for sure they might sell them day by day, or are you just guessing.

14. I am not just guessing
You don't get the same ads every single day for whole host of reasons. I advertise and use adsense. There are days of the week that an ad is more likely to convert so some people will only run ads those days, or pay higher amounts for them. The content on your page changes so different ads are delivered depending on the blog post people are hitting. Lots of reasons.

It's frustrating I know.

16. Okay Thanks...................

I get it now, and I was not really that frustrated, I just wondered why the payouts were so different one day apart, thanks again.

5. Just wait until it's time for them to cut you a check, then they'll disable your account
That's what they did with my site, and with several other people I know.

I have had google adsense account since August of 2005, about every 4 months I get a check from them for about $110.00, and they always pay me. They have never screwed me over, that I know of.

12. I Have Heard About That

And it sucks, if they do cancel an account they should at least pay you what they owe you. Did they give you a reason why they decided to cancel your account. I hate their customer support, their is none, I can not get an answer from anyone there, about anything. They do not even have a customer support e-mail address, or none that I can find. They tell you to ask your question in their forum, then nobody answers it.

I guess they figure if you do not like their ad program, don't use it, lol.
