About the Gallup Abortion poll, didthe count too many Republicans?
The increase in pro-life respondents seemed to be made up of mostly Republicans and self identified conservatives.
So the question is did they weigh the poll with the current 20% population level for Republicans or did they give more weight.
This article bears this out:

1. I believed from the beginning that the poll was
skewed Conservative.

Now why oh why would Gallop make such a rookie mistake over such a sensitive issue?

Stephen_W:

I keep seeing these polls. I'm not sure you can take much out of it. What would be worth polling on top of this is whether you would support banning abortion or not. In that case, I would assume the numbers would start skewing back towards the Pro-choice side. Most Americans don't like abortion and would not choose that route, but I don't know if most Americans would want the constitution banning abortions for all.

5.  I'd wager that you would have strikingly different results if you asked
the same respondents, "Should abortion be banned or should women have access to legal abortion?".

The only thing that the poll in the OP tells me is how people label themselves.
