The conference was about green technology and how to get into the field. How to get educated. How it is useful. Grants, small business, government contracts. Geothermal, wind, solar. Stuff like that.
The head speakers were not shy about specifically naming President Obama and his administration as the springboard for this technology for the near future. I couldn't agree more. Everybody was very hopeful. I will probably be entering a new field of employment, or start a new business.
But there was also the occasional uncomfortable 2nd amendment issue in the down time. There weren't lots of us 2nd amendment guys at the green conference, but there were some.
President Obama seems like the best thing in a very very long time for the environment, and for that I am grateful. And just the opposite for the second amendment.
President obama has expressed his desire to bring a new ban on some semi-auto rifles, mags, and ammo. And people in his administration won't stop talking about it.

It seems like we have to choose between the environment or the constitution. I don't like having to pick.

1. Interesting how you turned this into a gun post. If you care more about being
able to kill your fellow humans than you do about making this a world where ALL can live and breathe, be my guest. Seems a pretty sad attitude to take, frankly.

2. Uh, since he started the thread, can't he "make it" about anything he wants to?

3. Yes he can....but it gave me whiplash.....
and what's this "It seems like we have to choose between the environment or the constitution. I don't having to pick" reference supposed to mean what exactly?

I don't having to pick? :wtf:

Considering that Obama didn't say jack shit about a Ban, the post could be seen as somewhat odd.

5. No I don't care "more" about guns.
Both issues are very important to me and President Obama has made it clear he strongly supports one and strongly opposes the other. And his administration has said they will move on both if they can.

6. The enviroment and the constitution, an odd mix at a Green conference.....

I'm most interested in green technologies. I have an hho generator for my car. (look it up on utube yourself). I have made a sizable investment in an engine component that increased the fuel economy of my HD by 35% and increased torqe and horsepower, with less gas. (look it up yourself omnivalves.com). Have been looking in a wave generation project that would be cheap and easy to set up on any beach, (you know the drill, http://www.wavepartner.eu/index.html). That and I own Northwest Bamboo, I distribute bamboo building products. So I strikes me as odd that they want to equate being green with my constitutional rights. Now I understand that you can pick any constitutional right and someone will have something against it, and be able to argue their point. But the second amendment allows you to defend the rest of them. Without the right to bear arms against any and all usurpers of the constitution, you stop being a citizen and become a subject.

IF it really wasn't important they would not have made it #2.

7. You have lots of cool stuff going on.
My current pet project is cob construction. I've done some stuff by hand, but I'm going to try mixing with the tractor and pouring into concrete forms and see how that goes. Our soil is perfect for cob.
Good luck with the wave technology, I've been hearing about it.

8. Using a tractor is a good Idea, as mixing by hand in a wheel barrow is way to slow.
Did you check out the wave generator it's the simplest idea I've seen.

9. Yeah, I did.
I agree I've never seen one that simple. I had a similar idea but not as finished as theirs. I was thinking more along the lines of a tower in the water with a doughnut shaped float around the tower, and the tower containing the turbines.

Theirs makes a lot of sense. And it looks so simple an individual could build a small one for themselves. The salt water and the metal parts might be a bit annoying.

11. Using plastic barrels..
there is plastic strapping used now for strapping pallets these days, very very strong. and stainless steel metal parts would keep it from rusting. Sealed bearing would be used with everything.
