Oh me, oh my! FEMA and the Red cross should be put on standby immediately in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and other bastions of neolithic thought.

2. How *do* the Young Earthers explain the fossil record anyway?
All they seem to have to say is "Don't you see? God cleverly set out all of the fossils, rock strata, Carbon-14, and so on to make it appear exactly as if the earth were billions of years old in order to fool people and test their faith in Him. Those who see through God's little trick are the True Believers who will find a place in Heaven, right next to sweet Baby Jesus."

This idea is, of course, waaay too stupid to even comment on, except to point out that their God sure is a goofy, mischievous little Scamp, isn't He? Can this really be all they have on this?

4. I believe the argument is that Satan planted the fossils.

7. Why didn't I think of that?
Of course! Satan did it! It's so obvious once you realize the truth. And Satan, as we know, was the World's First Liberal.

13. No, no, no. God planted the fossils.
Because he's such a mischievous prankster.

11. Of course not. They'll put their fingers in their ears and go "nah, nah, nah".
The overwhelming evidence has never stopped them yet. Oh yeah, where is theirs by the way? Stories told by Middle Eastern Bronze Age types just aren't evidence.

14. Every transitional fossil discovery simply makes them demand...
...additional transitional fossils.

15. Their default fullback because they got nothing.
I wish everyone would stop reacting to them. Instead act, tell them we don't need to go on trying to prove to you that the earth and the life on it is much, much older than eight thousand years. We have the proof from carbon dating to mitochondrial mutation rates to barns full of fossils and it's all been tested and confirm.

You prove your 'theory'. One dinosaur fossil fragment that can be verified to be less than 8K years old would do it, but it must be independently verified.

Claiming God gamed the system - not. That wouldn't stand up in a court of law, why should it here.

Mouth, money. Otherwise just go on yabbering to yourselves; we're not interested.

5. I'd pay money to actually see their pointy little heads explode
Too bad it won't actually happen. These fundie nutjobs won't believe the evidence right on front of their eyes any more than any other scientific evidence.
What can you expect from a religion based on the heat induced hallucinations of a bunch of itinerant sheep herders who could only count up to 20 because they wore open-toed sandals.

6. After you read that, read the spin that the notoriously conservative Washington Times puts on it.
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/20/true-bridge-between-mankind-and-mammals/

Some scientists say Ida is the missing link

True bridge between mankind and mammals?

The missing link is missing no longer, apparently. And her name is Ida.

(Eight essentially factual paragraphs omitted by me. The article continues...)

But not everyone shares in the Ida adulation.

"This is an incredible piece of hype to popularize a movie and a book. It's hard to believe that this story took off, but the media picked up on very emotional claims about the 'missing link.' It's created good publicity," said Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis and founder of the Creation Museum.

"What was wrong with all the other fossils over the years? Why get so excited with this one?" he asked.

"This is a noteworthy fossil find because it's so complete. But comparing it to the Rosetta Stone is quite an exaggeration," said David DeWitt, director of Creation Studies at Liberty University.

(The article then strays off to a discussion of a poll rejecting evolution and supporting creation.)

10. Finally! Now it can be The Law Of Evolution...
even though 'Theory' is just used to explain the mountains of empirical evidence that support evolution anyway.
