I have seldom been more proud to be a Democrat. |
|
I want to commend 53 Democratic Senators who bravely gave into irrational fearmongering by republicans and voted yesterday to keep the insides of American maximum security prisons safe from the horrible threat of terrorists. LAdies and gentlemen, these are true patriots in the truest sense of truth.
The Guantanamo terrorists would undoubtedly infiltrate our neighborhoods, day care centers, shopping malls and Rotary Clubs, spreading their vile and insidious terrorist insidious vileness everywhere. They'd be in our bathrooms every moroning, er morning, our offices every day (well, the empty buildings where our offices used to be before the layoffs), and in our bedrooms every night (that is, if the federal courts, NSA wiretappers and various faith-based officials would make room for them). NO AMERICAN WOULD BE SAFE!
Thank you, American heroes for your courage and the strength of your convictions and for your commitment to the ideals that made our party and our nation great.

and they have shown that they do not really deserve to be in those seats.

5. i'm sure there are thousands of inmates currently incarcerated in prisons here on U.S. soil... |
|
who would like to have a couple of these terrorist-suspects thrown in with them...
not to kick their asses, but to find out just how someone is going to get from a maximum-security-heavy-duty prison out into the nice, suburban neighborhoods...
you know, like "hey, akbahr...how you gettin' over to Forest Hills? I can't even see over these damn walls."

7. The real terrorists are the ones who rounded up the goat farmers to begin with |
|
The "political debate" and crucial, agenda-setting mainstream media coverage of this is just like anything else here - completely fabricated unreality that plays off of manipulation of ignorance, prejudice and fear.

11. In order to protect the American way of life, |
|
we have to stop being Americans.
In order to overcome tyranny, we must become tyrants.
In order to stand strong for American ideals, we must ignore, and even criticize, American ideals.

I expect tomorrow's news dump to be especially grueling. Friday night news dumps wasn't a creation of the Bush administration, they just used it a lot.

Seriously. I think if you put some muslim 'terrorist' into a maximum security federal prison he would get eaten alive by the gangs.

17. It's a little more complicated than just fear. |
|
Watching Maddow Wednesday night, she had on a guest, some Congressman, who said he denied funding as a way of sending a message. What he said was that the last administration did things unilaterally, and he was starting to see the same thing in this one, and he wanted the White a House to know this time it wasn't going to work like that.
My response, how about having a meeting? There's no other way to send a message? How many times did you deny funding to the last President, you suddenly find a spine with a Democrat?
