State representative Cary Allred To Drop Party Affliation
Burlington, NC -- Alamance County Representative Cary Allred says he is changing his party affiliation from Republican to unaffiliated next week.

Allred says a recent investigation into his alleged inappropriate actions on the house floor are part of the reason. "I have been stabbed in the back by republican so-called leaders," said Allred. "They are complicitors."

Allred says the his constituents don't think of him as a democrat or republican, only a public servant. He will be up for re-election in 2010, but has not decided whether or not he will run again.

1. "complicitors"?
That's not even a word.

2. It is...
Well, according to http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=co&vol=2000app\ct04272&invol=1

A person is guilty of an offense committed by another person if he is a complicitor. To be guilty as a complicitor, the following must be established beyond a reasonable doubt:

1. A crime must have been committed.

2. Another person must have committed all or part of the crime.

3. The defendant must have had knowledge that the other person intended to commit all or part of the crime.

4. The defendant must have had the intent to promote or facilitate the commission of the crime.

5. The defendant must have aided, abetted, advised or encouraged the other person in the commission or planning of the crime.

And the whole crime thing certainly fits with the Republican party, so the word might be accurate.
