11. I agree.
I'm actually happy that Obama hasn't been as left-wing as some here had hoped...most of the time.

The SCOTUS, unfortunately, is where you have to circle the wagons and stop being "bipartisan"....and I don't think Obama will do it.

8. Here We Go....Another Pony That's Not The Right Color...
Looks like some hae already determined that whomever the President nominates he/she won't be to their liking. I'll hold my judgement until I hear who the nominee is and get a good read on their background. I'm just grateful it's President Obama making this selection rather than the manchild or Gramps McCain.

10. But they just care so deeply about policy.
Which is why they do nothing but whine about Obama 24/7.

12. Can we retire that word?
yes, there will be kneejerk reactions to whoever he picks, both pro and con. I'm likely to give him some deferrence on his choice, and I'm not expecting a contentious, uber liberal flamethrower, in any case.

Any Votes To The Left Of The Scalitos Is Welcome
Souter was a gift...Poppy booosh put him up without really vetting him and instead of getting the "strict constructionist" he "borked" for, thus I've felt fortunate for this screw up that has kept the court from being a right wing rubber stamp.

C-SPIN just reported that Sonya Santameyor will be the nominee. From what I've read about her, I think we're off to a good start.

15. Hey...
People...in 2000, I wore a button as many of you did that said: "It's the Supreme Court, Stupid". And look what happened to us. Please, I am a leftie...you have to go left and turn left to get where my political ideology lies. I am not happy with all that Obama has done but I learned a long time ago not to believe that I will agree 100% with any political candidate. As someone said earlier..."Who would John McCain have picked?" Any of these women will be perfectly fine...none possess the "right-wing wacko" mentality.

I choose to give Obama some leeway; I want the troops home, I want Gitmo closed, I want affordable, quality health care, the environment protected, and quality education for everyone. I want it all but I know realistically that I can't have it all. All I know is that with this president, those things that I want are possible. Give him a chance...negativity is not a very admirable trait.

But...if I can have one thing...please bring the troops home, they shouldn't be dying because of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
