The GOP is imploding !!

Finally, political reality has hit them square in the face. They have an election coming up next year.

This morning we awaken to find the GOP slashing and burning everything in their path. They have even turned on Rush and Newt! Will Senator Cornyn be the next to apologize? Or will it be Charles Krauthammer? Or maybe Peggy Noonan? Gather around children and watch history being made.

They finally realized that they have elections in Texas and Florida and other states next year where the Hispanic vote will be very important. Charlie Crist in Florida has hopes of keeping a Senate seat in Republican hands. These attacks by Newt and Rush on the Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor does great harm to that opportunity.

However, there is a general rule in politics to never interfere with the enemy when they are destroying themselves. Just sit back and enjoy.

1. Scarborough is promoting Krauthammer as maybe "the new leader"

because he is sort of saying "Let's take the high road" and not call Sotomayor a racist

its like they can't take a step in any direction without having it blow up in their faces
like it is a minefield or something

They still are finding out how hard it is to "beat the guy with the mic" (Rush)

suggesting that she is racist, but doing it in a manner of "elevated tone". Aka, full of bullshit. But it was really funny how he couldn't refute Jon Harwood/Watson on the empathy talking point, so he started talking about "Krauthammer says it best", and mentioning Krauthammer every other sentence from then on during the show. If your talking points are reduced to a place where only Krauthammer can articulate them, you're probably not in a good place, Joe.

I can stand watching about 5 minutes daily of FOX talking heads who are feeding fuel to the fire. It is fascinating to watch the very air in their heads get sucked out into nothingness.

6. The beauty of it is they can't be stopped.

The GOP's de facto public leaders now hold unofficial positions from which they cannot be silenced. No institutional pressure can be brought to bear against them because they already gamed the system in order to allow them better access to the masses.

This state of affairs, wherein the Goebbels wing of the Partei enjoys free reign while the rest of it is politically out in the cold, appears to be unanticipated.
