By Heather Langan

June 1 (Bloomberg) -- An Air France plane with 215 people on board is missing after dropping from radar screens off Brazil’s Atlantic coast, Agence France-Presse said, citing an airport official in Paris. The plane is an Airbus A330, AFP said.

Air France-KLM couldn’t immediately comment on the report and will issue a statement when it has information, spokeswoman Marina Tymen told Bloomberg News. There was also no immediate comment from Aeroports de Paris, which operates Charles de Gaulle airport, according to Jerome Dutrieux, a spokesman.

6. They seem to wonder only why there is a press release prior to confirmation

7. I know, right?
I mean they seem to be surprised that there would be a news release when a plane is hours overdue and has no contact with the ground and 200plus passengers on board.

Um, it is news. That's why.

9. Yes, me too.
Too early to tell, but one can't help but think of terrorism since nothing was reported from the plane - it just vanished.

11. Seems that it's largely been ruled out.....

..... The plane ran into severe turbulence and a nasty storm, according to the Weather Channel.
