I just spoke to my SIL, who works at a Planned Parenthood clinic.

Won't say where, but I was thinking of her all day, and wondered if the protest activity around the clinic had flared up. She said it hadn't, and that the FBI had come by today to talk to the workers in the clinic, and to let them know that they are beefing up security because of what happened to Dr. Tiller.

She said they've also had a longstanding good relationship with the city's police department, and they have responded right away if any of the protesters get out of line.

I was relieved to hear that, but I admit to having a bit of worry for her in the back of my mind all the time.

I'm so glad that the police, especially, are being supportive. They are the ones that have the day to day influence on whether or not the anti-choice assholes are allowed to get out of line. The office absolutely wants the police on their side.

I hope your Sister in law and all of her co-workers remain safe and are able to keep doing what they are doing. :grouphug:

my SO worked undercover (local PD) and infiltrated a local group that regularly protested at Planned Parenthood. He said they were some of the scariest people he had ever seen.

I suspect most PDs have similar operations.

7. The nicest people in the world

work in women's clinics that I've seen. Just ordinary people doing extraordinary work for the best reason of all - they want to help, they want to take care of people who need taking care of.

It's unacceptable that people doing their jobs, perfectly legal jobs, should be subjected to this kind of terrorism, this kind of threat, this kind of intimidation.

I'm glad she's OK, and I really love that the FBI is on this all over the country.
