Wal-Mart Defends Security Measures
Apr 4th - 3:30pm

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Wal-Mart's normally low-profile security efforts were thrust into the limelight Wednesday when a fired technician alleged he had been part of a large surveillance operation that spied on company workers, critics, vendors and consultants. The company defended its security practices.

The world's largest retailer declined to comment on specific allegations made by 19-year veteran Bruce Gabbard to the Wall Street Journal in a report published Wednesday. Wal-Mart reiterated that it had fired Gabbard, 44, and his supervisor last month for violating company policy by recording phone calls and intercepting pager messages.

"Like most major corporations, it is our corporate responsibility to have systems in place, including software systems, to monitor threats to our network, intellectual property and our people," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Sarah Clark said.

Gabbard was fired after recording phone calls to and from a New York Times reporter and intercepting pager messages.

9. Nothing wrong with them trying for a citizens arrest.
It is our duty as good Americans to step in. My brother and I were once driving on a side street and an officer flew around us on the shoulder lights blaring then turned them off and proceeded on. We caught up to him and Mike jumped out, went to him at a stop light, knocked on his window and told him what he did was very illegal and that he should perhaps write him up for it. The cop was dumnfounded and sped off.

4. Peaceful protest is fine
but after about a hundred of them and no results I guess a person could get frustrated enough to throw something. As evil as Karl is I don't think that I would ever lay down in front of his car. I doubt that he would bat an eye running over a young person. He might shed a tear for lost cannon fodder but I doubt that as well. Peace, Kim

6. And so many of the morans who posted there
Would be all for Rove killing kids by running over them, and be disgusted with the kids for protesting. Honestly. I don't get it.

Kill, Rove! Kill!

Disgusting.

21. It's very simple, really
Rove and co. are "us" and we the peons are "them." So of course there are different rules for "us" and "them." That's all there is to it. Oh, BTW, the members of "us" and "them" are whoever Rove and co. say they are.

Methinks the reports have been overstated in the violence regard. Had those things really happened, you know damn well Rove would have had their asses!

29. Rove would be upset
Upset that blood splashed onto his car and getting that gore out probably would be extra tough, requiring him to go through the car wash a second time.

10. protests shouldn't be allowed
I wasn't going to register at their site, but one person said it was disgusting, and violent protests shouldn't be allowed in the US. I wonder what he would classify the American Revolution? Of course, most conservatives, had they been alive in 1776, would have been Tories and would have advocated the hanging of the radical Founding Fathers. These people have no idea what this country is all about.

When in reality, it was all about revolution!! The pilgrims were the ultimate protestors. They took it as far as they could.

14. took forever! but some of our posts are showing up! here's one of mine...
People are frustrated by the lies, the thievery and the blatant disregard for human life that has been pouring out of the White House for over six years. The Bush administration, in true loose-cannon form, is doing its best to deny the voters the mandate given to Congress in the last election. It's no surprise to me that Rove, who is responsible for so much of the horrific and unconstitutional lying being done, is being treated this way. People can only take so much. What I am surprised about is that we aren't seeing more of this. But then, it is a rare occasion when someone who has NOT signed a loyalty oath can get that close to anyone in the Bush administration.

Just to let you know the stoned. smelly, basement dwelling, hippie wanna be, traitors at democrat underground have posted this link in order to flood the comments with their treasonous talking points. They would shoot Karl Rove and kiss a suicide bomber in a second. They sided with Iran in the hostage taking, sided with Saddam in Iraq, call the murderous bombers in Iraq "freedom fighters", hate President Bush and LOVE anyone who hates America. Please ignore them since their collective IQ is all of 12. Thank you.

Our culture owes a lot to the hippies! Why, just in the terms of words we've incorporated into everyday language... what a bummer that hippies are still getting a bad rap!
