Newt eats his words (re: Sotomayor): "The word "racist" should not have been applied"
Edited on Wed Jun-03-09 08:33 AM by kpete
Gingrich walks back "racist" comment in an opinion piece in human events

My initial reaction was strong and direct -- perhaps too strong and too direct. The sentiment struck me as racist and I said so. Since then, some who want to have an open and honest consideration of Judge Sotomayor’s fitness to serve on the nation’s highest court have been critical of my word choice.

With these critics who want to have an honest conversation, I agree. The word "racist" should not have been applied to Judge Sotomayor as a person, even if her words themselves are unacceptable (a fact which both President Obama and his Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, have since admitted).

3. For anyone you meet who believes Newt Gingrich would make a good
president, this convoluted and disingenious episode stands as an eample of why he would not be.

The man is a rattlesnake.

4. It's lucky that the republicans don't need any Hispanic voters....
to get that 21% of the vote they need to convince themselves they still run the country.
It's too late Newt.

5. That should wrap up Gingrich's presidential aspirations in 2012
Just play that clip over and over again and the bulk of the fastest growing US population will vote for anyone but him!

7. Newt, here's what you do:
1) Call FOX News
2) Schedule a presser
3) Publicly and explicity apologize to Sonia Sotomayer and withdraw your call for her to resign her candidacy to the Supreme Court.

You might regain some respect among even your detractors.

Once it's out there, it's like dust in the wind.

13. He supposedly twittered this while walking out of Auscwitz.
He is a sociopath....a normal person's mind would still be wrapped up in what was just seen, not thinking ahead to the next political move.
