Citigroup just got pulled from the DOW -- and it looks to me like they're desperate for cash: |
|
Summary: Creditor initiated reissue based on supposed compromise turns into sales call, asking customer to fork over $108/year (to company going down the tubes!) for "fraud protection"
Got a phone call in the last few days from Citicards "fraud monitoring" that my card had been compromised and a new card had been issued that I needed to activate. Got the new card. Called to activate. So far so good. Now, the kicker: Once the card was activated, I try to get off the phone. "No, we're not quite done yet." Hard sell on a $9/month fraud protection "special courtesy offer to customers whose cards have been compromised." Not interested, thanks. Hard sell is repeated, ending with assumption that I will enroll now
