After I wrote the OP & the additions, I found an absolutely fabulous site that lists and mirrors just about every radio stream in the U.S. and some beyond. It's called radiotime, URL: radiotime.com/ . You can search for streams of your preference by their categories (progressive talk radio is called "liberal" by them), name of the show, or name of the station.
When you go to the page for a specific show, it shows whether any station is streaming the show at that time and how many minutes are left in the show, and offers a link to that station's stream. If no station is streaming the show at that time, it shows what station will be streaming it the soonest and when. The page also contains a link to the show's own website which usually have podcasts or other archived streams.
Radiotime's station pages list both category and schedule line-up in most cases. If a stream exists, there is a button to play radiotime's mirror stream which equals or betters the quality of the stream available on the station's own website.
Radiotime's category pages are especially helpful if you need a particular type of stream (realplayer, Windows Media, iTunes, etc.) because there is a column showing icons for the type of streams, if any, available.
The following info was compiled from their site and the sites they link to. I tried to show URLs for all the streaming sites with all or almost all progressive talk content. The first 12 entries are popular progressive shows including a few like
Free Speech Radio News and
Counterspin that DUers may not have run into but which contain high quality information and are well worth listening to. I did not include NPR stations, because, IMO, those stations are more corporatist than progressive. If I've left out your favorite show or station, you can find it by plugging it into the very efficient search feature on Radiotime.
