Former Speaker Hastert’s Son to Run for U.S. House

Ethan Hastert, the son of former Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert, is running for his father’s former House seat next year, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

Hastert, a 31 year old attorney, has never run for office before but will attempt to put the seat back in the GOP’s column after Democratic Rep. Bill Foster won the seat in a competitive 2008 special election.

“Generally, what I’ve been hearing is that people are not happy, not satisfied with our current leadership in Washington,” Hastert said, according to the paper. “Quite frankly, people are ready for the next generation of leadership.”
