No One Ever Imagined Using a Plane as a Weapon... (dialup warning)
Edited on Tue Jun-09-09 09:28 AM by JHB
...unless they read EC comics back in the 50's.

Recently ran across it, and once again was left shaking my head that they'd even try to make that excuse.

On edit: added dialup warning.

1. There's a program the Hitler Channel shows every once in a while,
details how the Nazis planned to send aircraft into tall building in NYC.

2. And what about that guy who flew his plane into the White House in 1994?
That seems to have been conveniently forgotten by the Bush administration, too. That pilot's death was ruled a suicide, not an accident.

3. The old superman cartoons had two such episodes
One was "The Bullet Plane/Car" - I don't remember which, but either way it flew and would smash through tall buildings and come out the otherside.

The other was "The Japateurs" - they hijack the world's biggest plane and it heads for the city.

How about Pearl Harbor?

That was one of the dumbest claims that came out of the Bush administration - nobody would ever have thought of it indeed.

4. The Pentagon and DC area emergency services war gamed a kamikaze strike on the Pentagon
Edited on Tue Jun-09-09 09:55 AM by kenny blankenship
About a year before it actually happened. In the scenario the plane was a private aircraft loaded with explosives. In August 2001, an evacuation drill was held at the Pentagon, with the fictional cause of-again-a plane hitting the building.

I'd say not only could they foresee people using planes as weapons, the people tasked with emergency planning seemed to regard it as inevitable.

6. Condi -Lier In Chief- Rice HAD to say that after she'd tossed Richard Clarke's memo
into the waste basket (along with any other stuff the new Bush administration didn't like from Clinton's folks...)
