Ok so we have had three terrorist events in the last three months
emerging from the crazy right.

One of them came form the not so usual suspects, but the other two.

But here is something that the press is brushing over. Attorney General Holder and VIPs were supposed to be there tonight for a special event.

As I am fond of saying... coincidences are for fools and idiots.

Oh and one more thing for you... those who deny a civil war is possible in the US... this is what modern civil wars look like in the beginning in modern times. So if you were expecting a line of marching troops forget it.

Is Obama keeping you safe?

9.11 fureigner

The Anthrax killer, still on the loose and quite internal

And my favorite... by the strict definition of the term... the DC snipers... yes they terrorized the population.

There!

14. Ah the DC snipers.
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 06:40 PM by juno jones
When I moved to my current location, I was told stories of a particular waterfront bar which (at least) three serial murderers have frequented. The DC snipers being the latest and greatest (the other two were Bundy and the Hillside strangler).

I don't mean to get tinfoily but sometimes the coincidence of all these men having the same haunts in this little, frankly backwater 'city' stretches my credulity a little.

2. I knew this would happen when a black man became president
I am not the least bit surprised. There was also a huge buildup of militia types and nuts when Clinton got in. I expect this will continue.
I find it humorous that I think Obama is too far right, but these yahoos think hes too far left. to me, that puts their views somewhere next to Hitler and Mussolini.

12. the problem is that the paradigm of civil war is the 19th century version of it
I will be more than just wrong... in fact so wrong it is not even funny.

But the late 20th century and 21st century version of those same events have the hallmarks of what is going on in the US right now. It i also known as insurgency. Most insurgency movements across the world are like this. They have the hallmarks of "lone wolves" because we all know this could not be organized, really... :sarcasm: and when they get a little hotter, you start seeing other things... like bombings.

Most Americans are not aware of how civil wars have been fought over the last forty years or so. They still have these images of the blue and the gray marching at each other at places like oh Gettysburg... but the last civil war where that actually happened was the Russian revolution. Not even the wars in central america saw armies doing that. And the few times we saw regiment on regiment action, like taking off cities, the guerrilla didn't wear uniforms either, jeans, shirts, and perhaps an armband.

Also most Americans are fully unaware of how civil wars develop and the fact that you need a small, if committed and fully disenfranchised sub-group of any nation. The extreme right fits that description to a T.

Of course there is a certain, and very understandable, level of denial that this could even happen here. And by what I know about insurgencies and how they rise... by the strict definition of it, we have been in a civil war since the 1990s and we may be entering a new hot phase... only time will tell. And as I posted with the economy... yes I want to be wrong and eat my hat.

5. All that hate that was being
stoked during the campaign, the things we would hear being yelled at the McCain/Palin rallies, didn't just go away.

The lunatic fringe (those who would actually pick up a gun and kill someone) is operating on full throttle now.

17. NOT just ANY Special Event . ..
A One Act play about a conversation between Emmett Till and Anne Frank was to premiere at the Holocaust Museum this evening. Dialogue From the play:

Anne: We're all here together in the darkness, yet alone at the same time until we're pulled into the light, until we're remembered.

Emmett: Remembered? By whom?

Link to a note about this and the fact that the women who wrote this play was AT the museum with her husband when it happened:

For whatever it's worth - I'm not surprised. These people - and NOT just the most extreme on the right have been whipped into a frenzy. "Cut The Tall Trees" . . . that's what they said over the airwaves in Rwanda.

Now someone, please tell O'Lielly, Fat Boy Rush to shut the f*ck up.

20. Oh
I know - I know.

This is NOT a hate crime - this is a single shot of terror. And FWIW - even though my eyes and ears are bleeding I'm gritting my teeth and listening to O' Lielly. Who pretty much just said that it's not an important story.
