A better gauge of the economy is not the statistics but the murder/suicide rate
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 05:46 PM by Mike 03
I cannot believe the number of murder/suicides I'm seeing in my daily rounds of the news, and I am so appalled that more attention is not being paid to this issue.

On the one hand, I understand that reporting certain crimes can inspire in some individuals the desire to repeat them, but we are beyond the point of a handful of "copy-cats". This is more than a daily occurrence; it is a warning sign that we need to do something, as a country, right now. We need to push aside our shame that there are so many of these crimes and attempt to rectify the causes and unmet mental needs that are leading to such dire and lethal consequences.

Believe me, we have only seen the beginning of this. It is going to get much, much worse unless we figure out some way to prevent this.
