A while back I posted about some problems with my new apartment. Having moved out of the previous place, in part to escape flooding and the ensuing mold problems, I found myself dealing with the effects of broken pipes upstairs. Weeks on, the problems seem to have been dealt with, not the way I would have done it, but livable.
Then, over the weekend we started having extreme weather: rain, hail, tornados. Watching all that rain come down made me thankful to be in the new place, as the old place always flooded in rainstorms with water gushing in under the front door.
Yesterday we had more tornados, more rain, more hail. But what made me really, really appreciate living in my new place was the heartbreaking news about the killing at the Holocaust Museum. About this time last year my landlords, noting all my Obama gear, informed me, with great pride mind you, that they are Klan members.
Whatever problems my new place might have, my monthly rent check no longer goes to those who support murderous hate.
