Father arrested in death of Oklahoma City baby
He's already served ten years for beating up a two-month old; now he's accused of murdering a six-month old ...

http://newsok.com/father-arrested-in-death-of-oklahoma-city-baby/article/3376812

Willis Joe Lambert was jailed Wednesday in connection with the death of his 6-month-old daughter just 14 months after being released from prison in a child abuse conviction.

Rachel Michelle Lambert died Tuesday morning at an Oklahoma City hospital after Willis Lambert called 911 to say she wasn’t breathing, police said. A spokeswoman for the state medical examiner said Rachel’s death was ruled a homicide caused by whiplash, also known as shaken baby syndrome.

Investigators interviewed Lambert, 37, of Choctaw at police headquarters Wednesday and booked him into the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint, police said. He remained jailed Wednesday without bail.

Lambert pleaded guilty 10 years ago in Oklahoma County to abusing his then-2-month-old son, Isaac Arnold Lambert. He began serving a 20-year prison term in May 1999 and won his release in April 2008 through "earned credits," or good behavior, a parole board spokesman said. Lambert admitted using "unreasonable force” on his son, who had bruising around his eyes, a broken collarbone and a broken leg.

Rachel’s mother, who lives in the house on SE 51, told police she and Lambert had been dating about 12 years and planned to marry next week.

If this stain ever sees freedom again, it will be a travesty.
It's incomprehensible to me that people like this exist.

2. 6 months old.
All that poor baby knew was pain and fear. Incredibly sad.

She's in a better place now. I'm sorry she never had the chance to live her life.

What in the hell is wrong with people? You want to talk about terrorists? How about people like this guy...how many kids does he have to beat up on before it stops? Now he's killed a baby. No one knew this guy had obvious anger issues?

12. I've seen people get only two or three months for this kind of killing.
children are about as valuable in the law as chairs.

13. But if you have a drug offense, you might be sentenced to 70 years
How did rape and murder become more acceptable than substance abuse or use?
It's time for a change of values and I'm working on it!

3. It's a horrible crime, but
I know first hand the need for some parents to get the training and counseling to avoid these situations. I never did anything remotely close to this, but when my son was 1, I realized that I needed to learn how to develop patience and keep my temper in check. But I guess that just "socialism".

eta: its just seems so obvious to me that if you didn't want to hurt a child, then you wouldn't do that.

10. That's counting on everyone being rational
In my case, I only went in so I would not be ill tempered. Some people need a lot more. No, no one should ever consider hitting their child. I think you will come across cases in which no one inteneded to do so, but were not mentally capable of controlling themselves.

All I am saying is I think we can prevent a lot of child abouse cases if we as a society can intervene quickly enough.

15. Oh, I disagree. Extreme RWers are, above all, authoritarians.
Law-and-order, obey-me-or-I'll-beat-the-crap-out-of-you-or-shoot-you types.
